So I wrote this story “MirrorStates” last year. I think it’s a bloody good read and I enjoy it.
As with all my stories when I write and subsequently edit the hell out of them, I read them aloud to get a sense of how the language is flowing. This is incredibly important to me. I also hear, in my head, songs that enhance or compliment the reading. I’ve always thought I could put the two together in an interesting way. After years of wanting to do this I finally sat down last weekend with 45 pages, a cup of tea, a Snowball mic, a laptop and recorded my reading of it. Added some music and effects and voila! The words are mine and the music is mine. It’s fun to put them together.
So if you’d give it a listen I’d appreciate it. Feel free to comment on the blog itself, please. If you like it I would hope you’ll throw something in the Silicon Tip Jar so I can get a bone for the dog and a tin o’ meat for the cat (the dog will eat that, too, if he can get his jaws on it.
